BLONDIES
HARPOS is officially under new ownership by Ruzvelt Stevanovski (previous owner of the legendary BLONDIES in Detroit) who plans on incorporating the name of BLONDIES as part of the vibe of the theatre, improve security and bring back great music!
"Local watering holes come and go all the time, but not too many have left an impression on the Detroit rock scene the way the legendary Blondies did before it closed in 1994. The 7 Mile Road dive on Detroit's west side was a staple during the glory days of '80s metal and punk. Before becoming household names, everyone from Slayer, Megadeth, Gwar to Poison dropped by the tattered venue to perform."
BLONDIES re-opened in a different location in Detroit in 2008 and closed it's doors one last time in 2012.
Blondies ruled in keeping with its proud role as the Motor City, Detroit in a large part manufactured American heavy metal's earliest models in the form of Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, The Stooges, The MC5, and Grand Funk Railroad.
From the hardcore-heavy and thrashtastic mid-80's until the alt-metal and grungfied sounds of 1994, Blondies supplied Detroit with an ideal heavy metal showroom: loud, nasty, built for speed, and able to withstand even the most insane impact.
Legendary venue Blondies dominated for decades, with Harpos presently bringing the noise is full face-smashing Michigan fashion. VH1 THAT METAL SHOW voted BLONDIES number 6 of the top 10 "Most Legendary" Heavy Metal Clubs of all time.
